Rotherham secured league wins a hard fought 2-1 victory against Blackpool.
Michael Smith and Clark Robertson struck in Bloomfield Road until Armand Gnanduillets late punishment halved the deficit.
While Virtue was denied by the magician from close range moments afterwards matty Virtues low effort on the quarter-hour had been parried to safety by Dan Iversen, who afterwards made a diving stop after 20 minutes by Sean Scannell.
Iversen maintained Gnanduillets header outside ahead of the half-hour to save the deadlock for the Millers, whose best chance came when the header of Michael Ihiekwe grazed the very surface of the crossbar of Jak Alnwick.
If Dan Barlasers free-kick was hooked straight right back across goal to prod past Alnwick the Millers took the lead six minutes after half-time.
Rotherham made sure of these points although Gnanduillets header clipped the upright when Robertson finished three minutes in the conclusion.
After Curtis Tilt was fouled the French forwards seized one back having a 98th-minute spot-kick.
